My terrarium workspace

About

Hello, I'm Emma

What began as a personal fascination with miniature ecosystems has grown into my passion project. My journey into terrarium creation started in 2018 when I created my first closed ecosystem as a way to bring nature into my apartment.

I created this site to share everything I've learned about terrariums - from basic techniques to advanced botanical concepts. My goal is to help others discover the joy of creating and maintaining these miniature worlds.

My Approach

Sustainability

I believe in creating ecosystems that thrive with minimal intervention, using ethically sourced materials and responsibly cultivated plants.

Education

I'm committed to making terrarium knowledge accessible to everyone, from beginners to advanced enthusiasts, through clear guides and tutorials.

Artistry

I approach each terrarium as a living work of art, blending scientific principles with aesthetic design to create beautiful mini-ecosystems.

My Background

Education

I studied Environmental Science at the University of Washington, where I developed a fascination with closed ecosystems and the delicate balance of nature.

My formal education is complemented by years of hands-on experimentation with terrariums of all shapes and sizes in my home studio.

Experience

I've created over 200 terrariums over the past five years, from tiny desktop jars to large statement pieces for local businesses and homes.

When I'm not crafting terrariums, I'm photographing them, studying new plant species, or writing about my discoveries on this site.
